Phonics and Reading

Reading is the gateway to learning. Here at Ladycross, we believe that being a fluent reader is vitally important to all children. We believe all children should read for pleasure as well as reading to gain knowledge. Reading is integral to further our understanding of the world and underpins all other subjects that we teach.

At Ladycross, we use the Rocket Phonics scheme to teach phonics and handwriting from Reception all the way through to Year 2. All of our reading books come from the Rocket Phonics library and are carefully matched to your child's phonics level. We provide both physical books in book bags as well as making more available online to ensure that your child has access to a wealth of suitable reading material.
