In the morning, the doors will be open at 8.50am. Year 1 will enter school through the blue double door at the Doncaster Road end of school. Carefully created morning work will be provided to help settle the  children so they are ready for a prompt 9am start.

We will be finishing our day at 3.30pm. Badgers will leave school through the single blue door opposite the cabin on the main playground and Squirrels will leave through the side door which is accessed by crossing the small football area and through a gate to a smaller playground.

Please do make sure that all belongings including jumpers, cardigans, PE kit, hats and even gloves are clearly labelled. Although we work hard to help the children keep track of their belongings, we often end the day with a number of un-named items which we struggle to reunite with their rightful owners. Throughout Year 1, we promote independence and encourage all children to take responsibility for their belongings.

Please send your child into school with a named water bottle with water in it. Children are able to access their bottles throughout the day and so to protect teeth and to stop sticky spills, we ask that bottles contain water only.

Additionally, please just send child with a book bag rather than a larger bag as we only have small areas to keep coats and bags.

In Year 1 our PE sessions are:

Badger Class: Wednesdays and Fridays.

Squirrel Class: Thursdays and Fridays.

Please send children to school in their PE kit which consists of:

  • plain white T-shirt
  • plain black or navy shorts
  • plain black or navy leggings
  • plain black or navy hoodie
  • trainers*

*Some PE sessions may require children to take part in bare feet.

Children will be able to go to the toilet whenever the need to, however as the year progresses, we will encourage children to use the toilet at lunch and break times and during times when they are not working directly with a teacher.

Please ring the school office and do not Dojo this information in the first instance if your child is going to be off school sick before 8.50am.

We can administer medicine to children that has been prescribed by a doctor but only if a medication form has been completed. These forms are available from the office.
